Vanguard Receives Largest Gift in University History

On March 10, 2022, Vanguard University received the largest donation in its 102-year history: a $10 million gift from the Freed family, a local Christian philanthropic family. This historic gift supports the second milestone of Imagine: The Campaign for Vanguard University, which will fund construction of a dynamic athletics and learning facility in the heart of campus: the Freed Center for Leadership and Service.

“What an incredible moment in Vanguard history!” said Vanguard President Michael J. Beals, Ph.D. “Please join us in praising God for the generosity of the Freed family, and for His continued blessings over Vanguard in our new century.”

The 60,000-square-foot building will be emblematic of the University’s century-long tradition of equipping students for a Spirit-empowered life of Christ-centered leadership and service. Completing the vision for a dynamic student life campus core, The Freed Center will be a place where generations of student-athletes are developed into champions of character, where students are prepared for a life of service through hands-on academic preparation in new classrooms and state-of-the-art labs, and where students are called to leadership and service by God in engaging chapels, worship services, conferences and events.
