Bodie Kuljian ’15 Becomes Fan Favorite on NBC’s “The Voice”
Before he made it onto season 22 of NBC’s “The Voice” and quickly became a fan favorite throughout America, Bodie Kuljian ’15–known by his fans as “bodie”–already had a place in the hearts of those in the Vanguard University community.
After graduating from Vanguard with a B.A. in worship arts–and after having met the love of his life and now wife Royale (Wood ‘15)–Bodie went on to coach and lead worship at ministries and churches throughout Orange County, most recently at Oceans Church in Irvine. Bodie is involved in writing and producing music and providing creative input on the church’s media production. Bodie also recently taught a songwriting course at Vanguard in addition to leading the Vanguard Worship Collective.
Bodie was an instant favorite on “The Voice”. He received a “four-chair turn” during the audition, a coveted and difficult accomplishment that signifies that all four judges–Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Camilla Cabello, and John Legend–want that singer on their team. Ultimately, Bodie chose to be on Blake’s team.
From that moment, Bodie continued to shine, becoming known for transforming iconic songs into his own through unique renditions. Bodie became a regular feature in national media outlets including Billboard, Entertainment Tonight, NBC, USA Today.
Bodie was also beloved for his genuine and kind charisma, which became apparent as he opened up about his story between performances. He shared about the influence of his parents, his alopecia, his love for music and creativity, and his deep love for his wife and three children, Indie, Violet, and Goldie.
Bodie ultimately placed second on “The Voice”. He was thrilled to be runner-up to his teammate Bryce Leatherwood. Though his time on “The Voice” is over, Bodie is just beginning his musical career. He is now focusing on releasing his own music, which he has been teasing on Instagram.
